Power washing can be very a very lucrative business, although the work is seasonal. Here are some power washing tips to consider before starting your new business!

1. Don't take on large jobs that you don't feel comfortable with. It is possible to damage materials if you are not certain how to clean them properly.

2. Always be sure to check the oil level in your power washer’s engine and pump before beginning.

3. Hook up a sturdy hose to supply water to the power washer before turning it on.

4. Check all the connections to be sure they are properly secure.

5. Always make sure the power washer’s exhaust is free of any debris, and that it is not close to any surface that could melt; and make sure there is adequate ventilation for your machine.

6. After turning on your pressure washer device, don't allow the unit to run for more than a minute without circulating water through the pump.

10. Never point the tip at yourself or anything else. A few hundred PSI can cause serious injury.

11. Always change the power washer’s and engine oil pump at least once a season.

12. Antifreeze the pump if your power washer unit is to be kept outdoors in colder climates.

13. Remember to wear proper protective gear (eyewear, gloves, and a good ventilation mask).
